DANZA PRIMAVERA (Spring Dance)
"Danza Primavera", is a festival of theatre, music and dance, held yearly from April till June. It springs from the growing activities of the Centro Studi Danza of Grassina, founded and directed since 1975 by Maria Grazia Nicosia, former first dancer of the Ballet Company of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino/MaggioDanza and performer in the main roles of the major ballets alongside Carla Fracci, Rudolf Nureyev, Margot Fonteyn, Vladimir Vassilev, Elisabetta Terabust, Mikhail Baryshnikov and others.
The Centro Studi Danza, which is now an association, stood out from the start for its quality and reliability, especially in the choice of qualified teachers: one of the merits of the school is stimulating young people towards choreographic experimentation by offering them the wonderful stage of its venue. In fact, this stage has "launched" new choreographers and new "ensembles" that have already reached success. "Danza Primavera", has rapidly become one of the most popular and interesting events in the Italian cultural scene. Since its first edition it provides ample space for young artists with "Panorami di scuole" (Schools Overview), "Bottega coreografica" (Choreography Workshop), "Serata" (Evening); the programme of "Danza Primavera" also hosts prestigious companies and important national and international dancers, actors and musicians.

LUOGHI DELLA FEDE (Religious Sites)
"I Luoghi della Fede" is a project promoted and supervised by Regione Toscana, in collaboration with provinces and town councils, "Soprintendenze", dioceses, worship institutions, Jewish, Orthodox and Evangelical communities, museums, cultural and voluntary institutions and associations. Launched in the Spring of 1997 - and the Bagno a Ripoli Town Council joined immediately - the project continues until the year 2000, and aims to promote and preserve the Tuscan historic and religious heritage, which is often hard to access and not adequately known.
Parish churches, abbeys, convents, oratories, temples, synagogues, churches, old libraries, precious archives, and museum collections represent a significant part of the cultural resources of this region and of the whole country, and "I luoghi della fede" is meant to promote it.
Particularly significant was the 1998 edition of the event, with the opening of the recently restored Oratory of Santa Caterina degli Alberti or delle Ruote. Its 14th C. frescoes are a remarkable work by Spinello Aretino and his aides Maestro di Barberino and Pietro Nelli.
The pictorial cycle is unique among the art monuments of Florence and environs, since there is no evidence of other oratories decorated with such a vast sequence of scenes illustrating the life of a Saint.
The Oratory can be visited on alternate weeks on Saturday afternoons (3.30-6.30pm) and on Sunday mornings (9.30am-12.30pm).
