Magnum
Photos History of a Photojournalistic Agency Founded in 1947 by Robert Capa with Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger and David "Chim" Seymour, the Magnum is the largest and most prestigious photojournalistic agency in the world. Capa, - who was already very famous as a war photojournalist - decided to open a cooperative of photojournalists and this turned out to have been a brilliant idea. By collaborating with the great newspapers and agencies who had previously always exploited their time, and above all, their negatives, the photographers were able to maintain their freedom of action and independence. Eve Arnold, Elliott Erwitt, Erich Hartmann, Marc Riboud, Ferdinando Scianna, Sebastiã , Salgado and Steve Mc Curry are just some of the names that have described the facts of life through their lenses. All these famous photographers have worked for, or still work for this reknowned photojournalistic agency whose excellence has had an extraordinary influence on the history of photography and photojournalism.
